"Pushpa fan jacket delivers a stunning half-century."
Bangladesh cricketer Jaker Ali made a stunning half-century against India in the Champions Trophy, showcasing his unique "Pushpa" movie-inspired celebration. His gritty knock and determination helped Bangladesh stabilize their innings. With a breakthrough in domestic cricket, Jaker’s performance has earned him opportunities in all formats, making him a key asset for Bangladesh.

In the Champions Trophy match held in Dubai, Bangladesh, facing India, found themselves struggling at 5/35. However, Jaker Ali, along with Towhid Hridoy, put together a 154-run partnership for the sixth wicket, stabilizing the team. Eventually, Bangladesh scored 228 runs, but it wasn't enough to secure victory. The 26-year-old wicketkeeper-batter, who achieved his second half-century in his fourth ODI, showcased his celebration that captivated the fans. Similar to his previous celebration against the West Indies, Jaker mimicked the "Pushpa" movie style by rubbing his beard with his bat.
Farhad Khurishi, the manager of the Sylhet Division cricket team, mentioned that the Bangladesh players were huge fans of the movie. Jaker's brother-in-law Mamun Hossain revealed that Jaker had styled his hair and beard just like the hero in the movie and added that they were eagerly awaiting the third part. Jaker, who scored 68 runs off 114 balls, decorated his innings with four boundaries. His gritty knock served as an inspiration for the Bangladesh team. "It all started during the training sessions in Bangladesh. Just like the lead actor in the movie, Jaker styled his hair and beard. In fact, all of us loved the movie. We watched both parts and are now eagerly awaiting the third part." Jaker finally scored 68 runs off 114 balls, with four boundaries.
After making his international debut in the T20 format during the 2023 Asian Games in October, Jaker had to wait for a year to make his Test debut. A month later, he made his ODI debut against Afghanistan. Bangladesh selector Hannan Sarkar firmly believes that Jaker is an all-format player and can prove to be an asset to the team in the middle order. Jaker had spent over seven years grinding in the domestic circuit before getting a break with the national team. Sarkar said that the cricketer had been very consistent in domestic cricket, which is why the selectors decided to give him an opportunity. "Performance in domestic cricket is always there, but you have to translate that into international cricket, and Jaker did just that. That gave us confidence, which is why he was given opportunities in all three formats."
