KRMB meeting postponed.. AP government’s key request.
The dispute between Andhra Pradesh and Telangana over the diversion of Krishna river waters has intensified, with the Andhra Pradesh government accusing the state of illegal water transfer. The Krishna River Management Board (KRMB) meeting, initially scheduled for today, has been postponed at the request of the AP Water Resources Department. Key officials will present their case, focusing on the state's water needs. The ongoing tension over water distribution highlights the significance of the Krishna river for both states.

Hyderabad: The Andhra Pradesh government recently complained to the Krishna River Management Board (KRMB), alleging that it was illegally diverting Krishna waters. In this context, a board meeting was scheduled for this afternoon under the chairmanship of KRMB Chairman Atul Jain. However, unexpectedly, the Special Chief Secretary of the AP Water Resources Department wrote a letter to KRMB, requesting that the meeting be postponed.
The letter mentioned that the meeting should be postponed due to an urgent meeting. At 3:30 PM, Minister Uttam Kumar Reddy, along with the irrigation department officials, will visit the KRMB office to present their arguments. They are particularly expected to explain the needs for drinking and irrigation water to the board. In this context, the Krishna River Management Board has announced that the meeting will be postponed to Monday afternoon.
Meanwhile, the dispute over the Krishna river waters between Telangana and Andhra Pradesh has escalated. This is mainly due to limitations in understanding regarding water resource distribution, politics, and security concerns. In the past, both states have faced serious accusations, particularly regarding the distribution and diversion of Krishna waters. The Krishna river is crucial for the livelihoods, agriculture, and drinking water needs of both states. Ensuring an adequate water flow from AP to Telangana, and adhering to the Krishna river agreements and current conditions, will be crucial to achieving a peaceful resolution between the two states.
